Birmingham-based building services provider J S Wright has secured contracts worth £2.5m with Rydon Group to help deliver affordable and supported accommodation to London and the South East.
Rydon Construction has selected the company, which has offices in Aston and London, to fit out 90 one and two-bedroom apartments for Thames Valley Housing Association in Horley.
The design and build package includes a centralised plant room and a heating and boosted cold water distribution system serving each of the apartments through heating interface units.
The company will also be plumbing the kitchens and bathrooms, and providing a domestic hot and cold water service, above ground drainage and sanitary ware.
The £11.3m development, reaching six storeys at its highest point, is on the site of the former Newman House office block. It will provide 75 homes for shared ownership and 15 homes for affordable rent, along with a courtyard garden and undercroft retail units and parking.
Work is scheduled to start on site in November 2013 with completion planned for February 2015, and J S Wright is teaming up with long-term partner Dagenham-based R J Electrical to provide the mechanical and electrical services.
J S Wright has also been commissioned by Rydon Maintenance to design and install the mechanical services for the £4.7m refurbishment of the YMCA hostel in St Mary’s Road, Ealing.
The existing standard 181 bedrooms are being converted to 147 rooms, either en-suite with shared kitchens or self-contained studio and one bedroom flats, to provide young people with modern accommodation.
J S Wright managing director Marcus Aniol said: “We are delighted to strengthen our successful relationship with Rydon as we continue to develop as the mechanical services contractor of choice for large-scale residential projects throughout London and the South East.”
