A 20,500-home housing association has become the latest social landlord identified by the English social housing regulator for failing to carry out sufficient gas safety checks.
First Wessex has been issued with a regulatory notice by the Homes and Communities Agency.
The notice says First Wessex has failed to meet the Home Standard and as a consequence of this breach there was potential for serious detriment to First Wessex’s tenants.
The notice said First Wessex had a ‘significant’ number of certificates out of date. It said that although First Wessex knew this and was addressing the issue, it had not informed the regulator.
HCA said they will consider whether this case raises governance concerns about the First Wessex’s board’s oversight of the matter.
