Munro, which has just celebrated its 55th anniversary, hopes the purchase of the Chelmsford firm will bolster its profile in Essex.
Mid Essex Electrical Engineers Limited, which was originally established in 1948, has a turnover of around £2million, employs 30 staff and has clients across the south east, London and the Home Counties.
Past projects have included work at St Paul’s Cathedral and its client list features Essex County Council, Essex Police, Mid Essex Hospitals NHS Trust, Anglia Polytechnic University, Chelmsford Borough Council and the East India Dock Partnership.
Steve Barry, Munro managing director (pictured with commercial director John Gray), said: “Mid Essex has long excelled in electrical services but the addition of Munro’s mechanical expertise will make it a formidable operation and open up new markets in the South of England.
“With John Gray, Munro’s Commercial Director, overseeing the development and integration, the new company will dovetail perfectly into the group.”
The buy out also includes Mid Essex Systems which sells and installs a wide range of alarm and access products.
The Chelmsford company will trade as Mid Essex Mechanical and Electrical Services Limited, under the Munro banner.
