A Distinctive Voice:
H&V News and sister magazine RAC are distinct from many other publications in the way we operate. We do not simply reproduce press releases, but blend features written by our editorial team and by industry bodies with those contributed by the supply chain and edited by us.
H&V News is proud to have an agenda based on ‘industry issues for HVAC decision makers’ across the domestic, social housing and commercial sectors. This means we are interested in technology; best practice; legislation and policy; and industry business; but we don’t write about many things that industry PRs produce in volume, such as: manufacturer promotions; information for homeowners and consumers; new premises; or new appointments.
We are also unusual in that we don’t have Product Panels, or ‘colour separations’ – we believe that if the information on a press release is interesting, it is worth publishing for free. We also don’t believe you can write about a new technology in just 150 words…
We are also distinctive in that we don’t have features lists or editorial calendars.
This is simply because we want to reflect the developments in the industry, as they happen, rather than to have the industry fit into a framework that the magazines have created.
This is good news for all PR and marketing teams because it means we are interested in hearing from the industry supply chain at any time of the year, so that companies can send information when they have something interesting or important to say, rather than waiting for a particular time slot.
We have Technology pages every month, so product launches can be sent via email at any time, as can detailed application stories of at least 750 words.
For longer articles about technology, techniques or industry issues, or to offer an idea for our Opinion pages, we would ask that you send an email synopsis in the first instance – we want articles that are written specifically for H&V News readers!
H&V News is sent free of charge, along with RAC magazine to over 10,000 readers. As a result, we look to all suppliers to be ‘partners’ with us - blending the PR and press releases that provides useful information for readers, with advertising, which enables RAC and H&V to send all this good information free of charge to industry decision makers. We always consider every press release on its merits, but we don’t believe that anyone should use H&V News as a free shop window for regular coverage – that is not fair to the companies that do support us commercially.
