Heating training ‘been inadequate’

Baxi Commercial Heating has launched a training academy claiming that the standard of training throughout the industry needed to improve. “In my view, there has been inadequate training provision in the commercial heating and hot water industry for too long now,” said Yan Evans, technical director of Baxi Commercial Heating. “However, this situation should change for the better once proposed measures by ICOM Energy [the trade association] to redress the shortfall are in place.” Mr Evans felt that his own company, as one of the largest in the sector, needed to do more than simply display product, resulting in the launch of the academy. The new facility offers products from the Baxi portfolio including Potterton Commercial boilers and Andrews Water Heaters that can be used for training in installation, commissioning, servicing and fault-finding.
