Faulty carbon monoxide detector recalled

A carbon monoxide detector is being recalled by manufacturer Jo-El Electrical due to fears its alarm might not be activated even if there are quantities of carbon monoxide in an area.

The company has written to customers saying: “The device may not alarm in the presence of concentrations of Carbon Monoxide. Please remove this unit from service immediately and return it to where you purchased the item, where you will receive a full refund.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused in this matter, but please understand the primary objective of this recall is safety.”

The product affected is the Jo-El Carbon Monoxide Detector, Article No: 822611, Model COA – 001.

The company said: “No other items in the Jo-El branded goods range are affected.”
