Adding yet more milestones to its impressive history, HE Simm celebrated a number of additional achievements in 2014 to secure the winning of this year’s Outstanding Contribution to the Industry award.
One of the most impressive among its list of successful initiatives was the handing over of 4,000 residential units within a number of projects between July and September 2014. Included within this were numerous apartment buildings, student residences and hotels in locations around the country, for clients that ranged from blue chip construction companies to universities.
The company’s work has also been featured in a case study earlier this year (H&V News, 14 January, page 18). HE Simm is the building services contractor, working with main contractor Berkeley Homes and consultant IDA Associates to deliver the mechanical and electrical requirements for the project, which is due for completion later this year.
Providing further proof of its exemplary efforts, HE Simm has also launched an innovative site safety programme, working with health and safety specialist Aspen Thorn Safety. Starting with its senior management, the Behavioural Safety Training programme has now been rolled out to site workers. A positive response has been received from both employees and subcontractors, with reported benefits extending from health and safety to include overall operational effectiveness.
Accolades have been received by HE Simm from companies and individuals throughout the construction sector because of its attention to detail, collaborative working practices and professionalism. Its various qualities have been a major factor in its continuing growth, leading to further expansion of its workforce.
Last year closed on yet another notable announcement, with HE Simm confirming its support of the Construction Youth Trust BuildForce programme, which assists those leaving the Armed Forces to find their next career move.
While 2014 was undoubtedly another successful year for HE Simm, the fact that it also combined its demanding schedule with the launch of a major health and safety initiative while continuing to support charitable organisations and relevant activities shows that it is a thoroughly deserving winner of this year’s Outstanding Contribution to the Industry trophy.
