The tougher the market, the more vital it is to celebrate success. That’s why this year’s HVN Awards, held in April at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, were so important.
Now in their 16th year, the awards were bigger than last year: more entries, more categories and more people having a great time on the night.
The energy that the awards night creates is testimony to the huge efforts that companies put into making their entries and the robustness of the judging process. There was huge variety as well - small companies as well as large ones were successful - and categories such as Training Initiative of the Year and Apprenctice of the Year showed what companies were doing to invest in the future.
It was fantastic to see Trevor Hursthouse, chairman of the SEC Group for more than 10 years, receive the HVN Gold Award, sponsored by the HVCA. It obviously meant an enormous amount to him, and was hugely well received. You can read all about this year’s winners in this special issue of HVN dedicated to the awards.
Thanks to all our sponsors, without which none of it would be possible and whose continued support for the awards makes it the industry’s night of the year. Finally, as some of you will know, Claudia Hathway who joined HVN as editor last year, has taken the brave step of starting her own business. I wish her the best of luck and in the interim, I will be taking over editorship.
It’s an exciting time to be editing this magazine. In the next few weeks we will be introducing new sections and launching a new website, with a digital version of the HVN Specifier’s Guide. I hope you continue to find both the magazine and website useful.
