To ensure all staff working on PCH gas installations have the same level of understanding, the PCH gas quality inspection team developed a training initiative which has been rolled out to its in-house workforce and to its contractors’ workforces.
The initiative was introduced to promote and maintain the highest standards of gas safety. By providing all gas operatives with the same level of training, PCH is assured everyone has the same understanding not only in relation to legal compliance but also of the expectations they have over and above the minimum legal requirements and standard of finished work.
The training sessions run on a rolling programme so that operatives remain up to date. The sessions are used to communicate industry technical information and updates on gas safety legislation. PCH also uses the training sessions to correct any issues that arise, such as repeated poor quality of work.
In addition to the commonality of understanding, PCH has also reduced the amount of money spent on external training.
As a result of the initiative, PCH has set an example to other housing associations and demonstrated its commitment to its residents.
