To address the issues facing the Woodward Estate in Rock Ferry, Magenta Living launched a regeneration project to make major improvements to the homes on the estate.
The aim was to make Woodward a flagship for community sustainability, reducing carbon emissions and cutting utility bills. Baxi was invited by Magenta Living to advise on the best way to upgrade the heating systems in almost 800 affordable homes on the Woodward Estate which all had old back boilers fitted.
Once replacement models had been specified, Baxi was required to manufacture and deliver the replacement units and support the installation programme. A total of 800 back boiler units were replaced in 800 affordable homes on the estate, with the main intention being to generate cost savings for tenants and meet efficiency targets.
The Baxi Bermuda HE is the only high-efficiency back boiler on the market. Wall and loft insulation measures were also installed as part of the refurbishment project. The project demonstrated how the heating industry can work in partnership with affordable homes providers to make a real difference to people living in fuel poverty.
