Viessmann supplied all the heating and control technologies to installer Lenwood Energy on a retrofit project in Ilfracombe.
The company ensured a reliable, efficient and renewable solution was reached. Lenwood Energy designed and installed a renewable energy system comprising three different technologies: Vitosol 220-T solar thermal, Vitovolt solar photovoltaic and a Vitocal 242-S split air/water heat pump.
Each technology works together, governed by Viessmann’s latest Vitotronic 200 controls. This was one of the first UK installations of the compact, high-COP Vitocal 242-S heat pump.
The controls allow the technologies to ‘speak’ to each other and deliver optimum efficiency by deciding the best energy source to draw from at any time.
This means each heating source returns greater efficiency individually and collectively. Energy gathered from the Vitosol 200-T solar thermal tube collectors feeds into a hot water cylinder during the day, while energy from the Vitovolt solar PV panels is available to the Vitocal 242-S split heat pump, for use when required.
The heat pump provides space heating for the home via 10 newly installed fan assisted radiators.
