Partnering Initiative of the Year

Wrekin Housing Trust and Travis Perkins Supply Chain

Partnering Initiative of the Year Wrekin

The creation of an in-house gas service and maintenance team by Wrekin Housing Trust has resulted in the formation of a highly efficient operation that places the customer at the heart of the supply chain process.

This has been delivered through a close working relationship with Travis Perkins, which has established an on-site stores facility, further enhanced with integrated IT systems.

Engineers record stock details on PDAs and their vans are then restocked accordingly. Parts ordering is also included, allowing engineers to liaise with colleagues and Travis Perkins to reschedule appointments while on site, keeping customers informed and minimising the need for further contact.

Wrekin Housing Trust reports that it has become more efficient as a result of these efforts to reduce time taken to collect stock, and now has robust systems in place that can be analysed to show where further improvements need to be made.

The success of the new operation means the company is now rolling the method out for its other general responsive repairs divisions.
