Engineers and consultants praised

Faber Maunsell director Ant Wilson has received an Ambassador Award from the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) just a week after being named the most influential person in the building services industry by H&V News and www.hvnplus.co.uk

Mr Wilson, as Head of Sustainable Development has played a key role in integrating sustainable construction techniques into mainstream design projects, received his award at the ACE Engineering Excellence Awards in London.

A spokesman for ACE said: “The judges were looking for someone who demonstrates significant achievement and who has played a leading role in promoting the sector to a wider audience.

“Ant’s achievements and the way he has set about them set him apart from his peers.”

Other winners included Mott MacDonald which received the sustainability award for The Manchester Civil Justice Centre and McBains Cooper which gained the Low Carbon Technology award for its work on Gloucestershire Police HQ.

ACE established the awards to give consultancy and engineering firms a platform to raise their profile and promote their work to a widee audience.

ACE chairman Neil Sandberg said: “The winners and commended entries showcase the best in UK consultancy and engineering and are all examples of engineering excellence which have made a real difference to projects, places and above all people.”
