EMCOR unites construction and engineering businesses under single head

M&E contracting giant EMCOR Group (UK) is bringing its Engineering Services and its Infrastructure and Rail Services businesses under one management head. John Matthews, managing director of Engineering Services for the last three years will preside over the two divisions. Ivor Goldsmith, managing director of Infrastructure and Rail Services, is retiring from his full-time position later this month. He will remain with the company, but in a part-time consultancy capacity. Integrating the two businesses under a single management head is part of the Group’s attempt to create an integrated and comprehensive engineering capability. It forms of part of its five-year strategic plan to integrate its mechanical and electrical design and construction business alongside its facilities management services. Integrating the two divisions follows on from the acquisition of Rosser & Russell Building Services, the m&e contracting arm of construction business Vinci, last month. Tony Whale, EMCOR chief executive, said: “Customers are increasingly demanding a cost-effective solution from a single provider which delivers m&e design and construction through to long-term facilities management. “This move reinforces and emphasises our intention to become the leading end-to-end solution provider while maintaining our sector strengths.”
