Carrier Corp buys StrionAir for undisclosed sum

US air-conditioning and refrigeration solutions provider Carrier Corporation has acquired proprietary air purification systems producer StrionAir for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 1997, StrionAir developed and patented enhanced electronic filtration methods and products, including the only whole-house air purifier on the market validated by third-party testing to both capture and kill airborne germs, viruses and mold.

Under an exclusive licensing agreement, StrionAir has been the supplier of the Carrier Infinity Air Purifier and Bryant Perfect Air Purifier since 2006, and has also developed, marketed and sold over 6,000 commercial systems.

Carrier Residential and Light Commercial Systems president Bob McDonough said: “Acquiring StrionAir will allow Carrier to better integrate the best-in-class Infinity Air Purifier into our overall product offering, as well as provide an opportunity for accelerated next-generation product development for both residential and commercial applications.

“Carrier has consistently led the industry in developing energy-efficient, environmentally sound solutions in home and building comfort and indoor air quality. The addition of StrionAir will further enhance this focus and tradition.”

StrionAir’s vice president of research and development Dr Peter McKinney said: 'We look forward to continuing our leadership in indoor air quality and purification. StrionAir’s entrepreneurial spirit and innovation capability, combined with Carrier’s product development expertise and appetite to invest in cutting-edge solutions, will result in even better offerings for customers.”

Carrier Corporation has appointed David Roberts as commercial director of its finished goods division.

Mr Roberts has been with Carrier for over 27 years, during which period he has held positions in industrial refrigeration, sales, marketing and service, both in the UK and overseas.
