With government targets on efficiency savings in the delivery of projects and full BIM collaboration by 2016 looming, Shepherd Engineering Services’ unique BIM2MOSAIC system represents a trailblazing vision in the development of BIM functionality, training and project delivery.
It automates the material take-off, material costing and labour costing process for building services commodity items using the 3D BIM generated by the Shepherd Engineering Services’ BIM team. It incorporates the BIM currently used by the Shepherd PRISM team to maximise early project visualisation and cost efficiency for its clients, with a planning system that calculates cost of materials and labour. Shepherd Engineering Services has also worked closely with some of its specialist supply chain to provide a true digital manufacturing functionality from BIM.
Through collaboration, training and development with a ductwork subcontractor and PRISM, Shepherd Engineering Services has enabled a seamless workflow, delivering improved business process efficiency, reduced waste and carbon, lowered cost and saved time.
