Baxi wins MOD contract extension

Baxi has won a three year extension to a contract to supply domestic boilers for the Ministry of Defence’s (MOD) rolling programme to refurbish the homes of service families.

In the current financial year £7.8 million has been allocated to upgrade heating systems on service family estates across England and Wales with the work being carried out by MODern Housing Solutions - contractors to Defence Estates Housing, Estate Management.

RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire, home to the internationally renowned Red Arrows, has just had 132 new boilers installed in their service family quarters.

Communications and Customer Care Manager for MODern Housing Solutions Angharad Jones said:  “The heating systems in all the properties have been replaced.

“Old floor standing boilers have been taken out and replaced with neat, high efficiency wall hung boilers.

“In addition, thermostatic radiator valves have been installed throughout, so that the heating is easily controlled in each room, according to the needs of the family.”

During the first phase of the massive MOD tri-service refurbishment project, approximately 6,000 boilers have already been replaced with Baxi and Potterton boilers up to March 2009.
