Balfour Kilpatrick wins academy contract

Balfour Kilpatrick has been awarded a £3.2 million contract by Balfour Beatty Construction Northern to design, supply and install the heating, ventilating, air conditioning and electrical services for Eastbourne Academy in Darlington.

Balfour Kilpatrick’s scheme of works include the use of modularised mechanical and electrical services, plug and play distribution and a prefabricated package plant room.

A biomass boiler and rainwater harvesting will also be part of the overall sustainable services being installed with a completion date set for the summer of 2009.

This Building Schools for the Future academies framework project is being carried out by main contractor Balfour Beatty Construction Northern, for Darlington Borough Council. It comprises the construction of a two-storey secondary school.

The building will possess state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities and will also be available for community use and lifelong learning.
