Balfour Beatty wins big m&e deals in UAE

M&E services at two high profile hotels in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be delivered by BK Gulf, a specialist business jointly owned by Balfour Beatty and Dutco.

BK Gulf will oversee the installation of M&E systems at the Marina Hotel project on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The project is worth £39 million and is part of the new development to provide a Formula 1 standard racing complex by the end of 2009.

The second contract unveiled today (Wednesday August 13) by BK Gulf is the Trump International Hotel and tower project in Dubai. The project, worth an estimated £61 million, should be completed in December 2010.

Ian Tyler, Balfour Beatty chief executive, said: “These project wins further underline our leading position in the fast-growing UAE construction market. We are playing a leading part in the civil engineering, building construction and building services sectors in the UAE and expect robust growth to continue for the foreseeable future.”

Dutco Balfour Beatty, a joint venture company specialising in civil engineering, has also  won a £141 million roads and bridgeworks project to construct two major interchanges as part of the Waterfront Development in Dubai.
