The Association of Plumbing and Heating Contractors (APHC) has launched the Plumbing & Heating Major Contractors’ Group.
The association has set up the group in a bid to better cater for its larger members and has enlisted the support of Professor Rudi Klein, chief executive, SEC Group; and Lord O’Neill of Clackmannan, who will chair the Group.
The association said: “APHC has a significant number of members who are larger companies, working on large contracts and representing thousands of employees. The needs of these companies are different in many ways and APHC is determined that the Association should be as relevant, useful and important to them as it is to all of its other members.”
This group will lobby to influence government policy relating to the industry and it will report concerns and issues to the APHC’s board of directors, with a view to influencing APHC’s own policies.
Current issues likely to be considered include public sector procurement policies, cost of pre-qualification, implementing sustainability targets (especially reduction in water usage) and Construction Act amendments.
