Acrib claims strong backing as consultation closes

Consultations close today (Friday October 3) on whether a company and registration scheme should be established to back up new F Gas regulations.

The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Industry Board claims it has seen a “strong positive response” and is optimistic ahead of a a stakeholder meeting with the Government next week.

ACRIB wants a company registration scheme overseen by the existing voluntary registration scheme REFCOM with regular audits and at least five yearly renewal with ACRIB responsible for the individual registration scheme.

An ACRIB spokeswoman said: “A concerted effort was made not just by the ACRIB trade associations and institutions but by many individual companies contacting their clients and inviting them to respond in favour of company and individual registration.

“We anticipate that this groundswell of opinion from employers will have to be taken into account.

“ACRIB will continue to put industry views across strongly at the stakeholder meeting on October 10 and at all future opportunities before the new legislation comes out in February 2009.'
