Wanted: your examples of the industry’s HVAC heroes

The iniative is aimed at recognising the efforts of those who go above and beyond the call of duty within the industry.

It was launched on the back of last winter’s extreme weather conditions, but is extending its remit in its relaunched version.

As such, the first candidate is Alan Carl of Bolton Plumbing and Heating Services, who is helping children who have been victims of bicycle theft.

Mr Carl received a free mountain bike after purchasing two CDC boilers from Alpha Heating Innovation.

Being a motorcycle rider he had no need of this, so he selflessly contacted his local police station to offer the bike to a victim who had had theirs stolen.

Being a regular customer of Alpha Heating and with the heating season under way, he expects to be giving more bikes away in the future.

Mr Carl’s example is typical of many others in the industry, including both individuals and companies, who go the extra mile to help customers, colleagues or, as in this example, others affected by unfortunate circumstances.

These examples are, however, overshadowed by the actions of irresponsible practitioners highlighted by HSE prosecutions and the national media.

While this publication will continue to report on these instances, it is also acutely aware of the generous actions of many within the industry.
