Trade federation asks minister for Part L delay

The Home Builders Federation has asked building regulations minister Andrew Stunnell to delay the revision of Part L.

In a letter to the minister, the HBF said housebuilders need time to get used to the new version of the software before they begin to use it regularly.

But experts have expressed worries over the six-month delay this would cause, putting the governments carbon reduction targets in jeopardy.
Heating and Ventilation Contractors Association technical officer Bob Towse said lack of action may prevent the Government from hitting its carbon reduction targets.

The Department for Communities and Local Government this week admitted that the planned roll out of the energy regulation itself had also yet to be approved by the government.
