Individual contributions recognised at awards
Three individuals received recognition at this year’s H&V News Awards, one of whom was taken completely by surprise.
HVCA chief executive Robert Higgs OBE, who retires this July, took the stage to present the Gold Award, sponsored by his organisation.
This went to Tony Bowen, president of the Heat Pump Association for his long service to the industry.
Mr Higgs had been asked to remain on stage, enabling H&V News editor Dennis Flower to announce the presentation of a vintage bottle of red wine in recognition of his long service and many achievements, which have benefited both HVCA members and the wider industry.
The third individual presentation went to Sam Buckley of Ideal Heating, who was recognised as Apprentice of the Year.
Scott Craig, sales and marketing director for headline sponsor Pipe Center, said:
“This year’s awards were a stunning success. As headline sponsor, we were delighted with the level of support they received from the industry, and the sheer professionalism and quality of the event itself.
“It was a tremendously enjoyable evening, and brought all sides of the trade and customers together to celebrate the best we have to offer as an industry and the exciting developments now coming onstream.
“We were doubly proud on the night, being both headline sponsor and fortunate enough to win the Merchant of the Year Award.
“It crowned a memorable evening and was a fitting reward for all the creativity and hard work on the part of the Pipe and Climate teams over the past year.”
