Cambridge contract for Morgan Sindell

Morgan Sindall has been awarded a £9 million student accommodation contract with Jesus College in Cambridge.

The three storey building will accommodate 121 students and 25 fellows and work includes refurbishing the adjoining Morley Horder and Grade II listed Carpenter buildings and upgrading all bedroom facilities to provide en-suite bathrooms.

The contractor adds the win in the education sector to its recent appointment to the £150 million South Lanarkshire Council modernisation framework alongside Lend Lease and Kier to construct 30 primary schools over a four-year period and three school-building contracts worth £65 million from Hull City Council.

Morgan Sindall will carry out external works including façade and natural stone repairs, roof replacement, window restoration and hard and soft landscaping. Internal operations will involve a full mechanical and electrical strip out and bedroom upgrade.

Area director Bob Ensch said: “We have a long track record of delivering successful schemes for the colleges at the University of Cambridge. We understand the complexities that are involved when operating within the Education environment and we are proven at delivering projects on time and within budget.

“In recent years, we have successfully completed schemes for Cambridge including Kings College, St John’s College and Trinity College and we’re looking forward to delivering Jesus College’s latest refurbishment project.”
