Partnering Initiative of the Year
BDR Thermea scooped this award for its efforts in partnering with a consortium of housing organisations within its Efficiency East Midlands project, delivering value for money and social and sustainability benefits.
The project gained the judges’ attention because it focused on delivering social as well as financial results. For example, as part of its commitment to the local community, BDR Thermea has committed to employ an apprentice from the Nottingham area for every million pounds spent under the framework.
BDR Thermea was selected to join the partnership by a Residents’ Procurement Group. These residents have been trained in tender evaluation and health and safety to enable them to make informed decisions. They tested and evaluated a range of BDR Thermea boilers and visited the manufacturers’ premises. The tenants and leaseholders’ personal experience and knowledge helped them to review the company’s tender and make an informed decision that would provide the best value for money, with the most appropriate products.
