Heating season spawns HVAC heroes

It has been gratifying to receive immediate feedback following the launch of our HVAC Hero campaign in a recent issue of H&V News

This also addresses an element of my own personal frustration at seeing the commendable efforts of companies and individuals who regularly go well beyond the call of duty to assist colleagues, industry partners and, of course, end users of HVAC technology, yet receive little or no acknowledgement.

The industry provides a multitude of these examples, illustrating not only the high levels of professionalism commonly seen in all areas, but also emphasising its humanitarian side.

While every business has the principle aim of making money, it is also gratifying to see the encouragement given to individuals to go beyond the boundaries dictated by profit and loss.

There is a further element to the HVAC Heroes initiative, in that it shows the opposite side of examples of bad practice, including the example (see page 6 of 2 November issue).

While H&V News is duty bound to report on these prosecutions, we all know that these offences are only committed by a tiny minority within the industry. As we also know, it only takes a small element to give any sector a bad name, so the HVAC Heroes promotion is intended to provide a more balanced view.

The initiative is open to installers, contractors and all sides of the industry, so please feel free to nominate your colleagues, industry partners and others deserving of recognition.

With the heating season now fully under way, there will inevitably be more instances of heroic efforts that show the industry in its best light. I look forward to receiving your replies.
