Tesco, Sustain and Baxi among winners at CHP industry awards

Projects, companies and individuals promoting the potential of Combined Heat and Power and micro-CHP have been rewarded at the annual awards for the sector.

The event, organised by the Combined Heat and Power Association, was held at the Victoria and Albert Museum which uses a CHP system which is shares with the Natural History Museum.

The award winners were:

The President’s Award for Services to CHP: Michael King (pictured) for his 'long-standing commitment and dedication to developing the CHP and community heating sector in the UK'

The President’s Award for Emerging Talent (sponsored by Vital Energi): Katie Gent of Sustain for her work 'developing a CHP calculator to encourage and enable the take up of CHP among developers of new build projects'

Innovation Award: Baxi Group for its development and field trials of the Baxi Ecogen micro-CHP unit.

Sustainable Development Award (sponsored by Nabarro): Birmingham Heartlands Hospital and Ener-G Combined Power Ltd for their state-of-the-art trigeneration installation at an acute hospital

Community Award (sponsored by AEA): Sustain for their installation of CHP and renewables at the Nabarro Court sheltered housing scheme in Nottingham

Champion Award – Tesco for their 'significant investment in CHP and trigeneration and their commitment to deploying both proven and innovative technologies across their stores'

Graham Meeks, CHPA director, said: “The Awards showcase and demonstrate the breadth and diversity of the CHP sector, and the CHPA was delighted at the range and quality of applications received.”
